After a slow start, Allardyce needs points as Palace battle relegation

In the main stand, tempers are fraying. "Come *on*, Palace!" roars one voice in frustration. "Oh, what the f--- was that?" yells another. One fan doesn't even have the words. "Gargh!" he bellows as another pass goes astray.

On the touchline, Palace manager Sam Allardyce chews ferociously. He lost the England job after only one game and then, three months later, returned to the sharp end of the Premier League. This is his sixth match in charge. He hasn't won one yet and now he's losing at home in the FA Cup third round to League One Bolton Wanderers.
