ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Creighton women's tennis narrowly fell to Villanova, 4-3, during a BIG EAST matchup at the USTA National Campus on Wednesday afternoon in Orlando, Fla.
The Bluejays dropped to 7-5 on the year and 1-1 in BIG EAST play, while the Wildcats improved to 3-7 overall and 1-0 in league action.
Wednesday's match needed eight matches to decide a winner, including a dramatic three-set match at the No. 3 singles to clinch the match.
With the match knotted at 3-3, all attention was on the No. 3 singles court as sophomore Ana Paula Martinez battled back from an early one-set deficit to level the match with a 7-6 (7-2) win in the second frame.
