OMAHA, Neb. -- Leading 3-0 the Creighton women's tennis team fended off a late rally to defeat South Dakota 4-3 on Thursday afternoon at the Hanscom Tennis Center.
The win propels the Bluejays to 12-6 on the season, while the Coyotes fell to 9-9 overall with the loss.
Thursday's match needed eight matches to decide a winner, including a pair of dramatic finishes at the No. 2 and No. 6 singles position.
With the match knotted at 3-3, all attention drew to the No. 6 singles court as sophomore Annika Elvestrom battled back from an early one-set deficit to level the match with a 6-4 win in the second frame.
