OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton women's tennis team battled for nearly three and a half hours before dropping a 4-3 decision to Drake on Friday afternoon inside the Hanscom Tennis Center.
The loss moves the Bluejays record to 5-4 on the year, while the Bulldogs improved to 4-5 overall with the victory.
Due to Drake only having five health players, the Bulldogs were forced to forfeit the No. 3 doubles and the No. 6 singles matches, give Creighton early advantages. This helped the Bluejays take an early 1-0 lead, as Creighton used the forfeit and a 6-4 victory by senior Malvika Shukla and junior Valerie Negin at the top double position to secure the first point of the match.
