Women’s basketball win fifth overtime game

The Bluejays (15-9, 9-5 Big East) won at Providence (9-17, 2-12 Big East), 87-84 in double overtime to improve their record in overtime games to 5-1. The game was a seesaw battle that included 17 lead changes, 17 ties and no double-digit leads by either team.

“I thought Providence played really well, credit to them, I know they haven’t won a lot of games but they really made us earn it,” Creighton coach Jim Flanery said. “Nobody has played more overtime games in the country than we have. I thought we should have won it in regulation but they should have probably won at the end of the first overtime.
