BOWLING GREEN, Fla. -- Nate Vontz tied for fifth place to earn All-Tournament Team honors at the BIG EAST Championships on Wednesday in Bowling Green, Fla., Vontz fired an even-par 216 over 54 holes to help Creighton place eighth in the team standings.
Vontz wrapped up an outstanding junior season with rounds of 72, 71 and 73 to tie for fifth place. The Lincoln product shot par or better in 11-of-18 rounds this spring and led CU with a 72.06 scoring average, the best by a Bluejay since John Sutko in 2006-07. Vontz had six birdies in the final 11 holes of Tuesday's second round and led the field with -3 scoring on par 4's during the tournament.
