OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton men's basketball guard Tyler Clement has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) First Team Academic All-American. A senior from Shawnee, Kan., Clement owns a perfect 4.00 GPA in Creighton's Heider College of Business as a Financial Analysis and Marketing major.
Clement is the first player from the Creighton program to be named an Academic All-American since Anthony Tolliver earned Second Team honors in the 2006-07 season. Clement joins Rick Apke (1977-78) as the only Creighton men's basketball products to earn First Team Academic All-America accolades.
Clement joins Rick Apke (1977 and 1978), Brody Deren (2004), Michael Lindeman (2003 and 2004), Paul Silas (1964) and Anthony Tolliver (2007) as the only Bluejay men's basketball players ever to earn First, Second or Third-Team CoSIDA Academic All-America distinction.
