Softball Ties Program Record With Six Home Runs, Overpowers South Dakota, 11-5

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton softball team tied a program record with six home runs to down South Dakota, 11-6 during the Bluejays' home-opener on Wednesday afternoon at the Creighton Sports Complex.

The Bluejays improved to 11-11, while the Coyotes fell to 19-17.

Creighton also hit six home runs last season during the second game of a doubleheader against UMKC (April 17).

Kiara Mills hit two homers on Wednesday while Ashley Cantu (inside-the-park), Mileah McKelvy, Kelli Finan and Mikaela Pechar each blasted one.

Creighton fell behind 1-0 after a solo home run in the top of the first inning before the Bluejays countered with a two-run homer in the bottom of the opening frame.
