OMAHA, Neb. – Senior and freshman each blasted home runs but it wasn't enough as the Creighton Softball team dropped the series opener to St. John's, 12-3, in five innings at the Creighton Sports Complex on Friday afternoon.
The loss drops the Bluejays to 21-30 on the year and 5-17 in league play, while St. John's improves to 21-26 overall and 7-12 in BIG EAST play.
St. John's stormed out to an early lead, plating five runs on just two hits and three walks in the top of the first inning. Jess Bianco got things started with a walk before stealing second and third.
