VILLANOVA, Pa. -- The Creighton softball team scored eight unanswered runs to down Villanova 8-2 on Sunday as the Bluejays claimed their first BIG EAST series victory of the season.
The Bluejays improved to 3-9 in league play and 14-18 overall, while the Wildcats fell to 4-5 during conference action and 20-19 overall.
Creighton senior Laura Roecker allowed two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning before the Bluejays scored eight times unanswered.
Victoria Alvarez tied the game at 2-2 during the top of the second frame with a two-run homer to left field for her first career long ball.
