OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton Softball team had its six-game win streak halted on Saturday as Villanova blanked the Bluejays, 4-0, in game one of a doubleheader.
The win was Villanova's 13th in a row and improved the Wildcats to 22-13 (7-3 BIG EAST), while Creighton fell to 24-13 (6-2 BIG EAST).
Villanova struck first in the top of the first inning when Nikki Alden hit her fourth home run of the season over the right field fence. The blast, with Brittany Husk aboard, gave the Wildcats an early 2-0 lead and was the first run allowed this week by Bluejay pitching after midweek shutout victories over Drake and Iowa State.
