After a lot of close opportunities for victories in the non-conference portion of the season for the Creighton women’s soccer team, the Bluejays started anew heading into Big East play. The moral victories turned into a real one as Creighton’s Taryn Jakubowski scored in the 86th minute, and the Jays edged out the victory over Xavier 1-0 on Sunday at Morrison Stadium.
The Bluejays held off the more aggressive Musketeers after the game was tied at halftime. Again, the presence of Aline Reinkober was the difference for the Jays. She returned to the lineup in the 83rd minute and it was just a few minutes later after a couple corner kicks towards Reinkober that the ball deflected out to Jakubowski, who found the back of the net.
