SOUTH BEND, Ind.— A slow offensive start for the No. 6 women’s basketball team mixed with a hot start from No. 11 Mississippi State led to a tough season-ending defeat for the Bluejays, as they fell 81-66 to the Bulldogs.
In the First Round of the NCAA tournament on March 17, the Bluejays fell short of a win due to poor shooting throughout the night, ending their NCAA tournament run prematurely.
From the tip-off, Mississippi State took an early lead after Debreasha Powe drained two consecutive three pointers to put the Bulldogs up 6-0.
However, junior forward Emma Ronsiek put the Bluejays on the board with a three pointer.
