Becoming the first Division I men’s NCAA player to reach over 2,000 career points, 1,000 rebounds, 500 assists, and 300 three-pointers, fifth-year senior Baylor Scheierman’s accomplishment combined with a double-double still saw the Bluejays fall short of an overtime victory against the unranked Providence Friars.
On Feb. 7, the Bluejays left Omaha behind for a series of two road games following their heartbreaking loss in regulation to the Butler Bulldogs at CHI Health Center. After falling six spots in the AP Poll, the No. 19 Jays hoped to redeem themselves against the Friars.
The Bluejays got off to a strong start on the backs of Scheierman and junior guard Trey Alexander, who scored all of Creighton’s first 12 points.
