OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's soccer team posted a 1-0 shutout against UNO in front of 3,084 fans on Wednesday night at Morrison Stadium.
Omaha native Diego Gutierrez scored the lone goal of the match during the 17th minute.
The Bluejays improved to 2-4-1 overall, while the Mavericks moved their season record also to 2-4-1.
Gutierrez, who played three seasons with the Mavericks before transferring to Creighton prior to the 2020 season, outlasted the UNO defense with an individual effort for the game-winner. The senior received a pass from just inside the Bluejays' attacking side of midfield before dribbling past one defender, regaining possession as a center back attempted to deflect the ball away and chipping the ball over the Maverick goalkeeper into the back of the net.
