OMAHA, Neb. -- Omaha Burke product Shereef Mitchell has signed a letter-of-intent to continue his education and basketball career at Creighton.
Mitchell is a 6-foot-1 guard who graduated from Burke High School this spring before heading to Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas, this fall. He will have four years of eligibility when he enrolls at Creighton next fall.
"We're excited to have Shereef join our program," said Creighton head coach Greg McDermott. "It's always important for us to keep some of the best local basketball players in Omaha. His ability to play with pace, shoot the three-point shot, create for his teammates and be an elite defensive player is a perfect fit for our style of play.
