OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team opened its 2016-17 season on Sunday afternoon with a scrimmage against Missouri that was closed to the media and public. Recent NCAA legislation now allows postgame publicity of the result, which saw the teams tie 41-41 in the first 20 minutes before Creighton outscored the Tigers 45-31 after the score was reset for the final 20 minutes.
Creighton started quickly in both halves, racing to a 20-10 lead in the opening stanza while getting points from six different contributors. The Tigers clawed back to retake a 32-28 lead with 4:14 left in the first half before CU rallied to knot the score at 33-all.
