VERMILLION, S.D. – The Creighton softball team wrapped up non-conference play with a midweek doubleheader sweep of South Dakota on Tuesday afternoon at Nygaard Field in Vermillion, S.D. The Bluejays cruised to a 7-1 win in game one and hung on to win game two 9-7.
With the pair of wins, Creighton improves to 20-27 on the year, while South Dakota falls to 19-23 overall.
Junior Jena Lawrence struck out a career-high eight batters, while earning her first win of the season with a complete-game performance in game one. Emma Rosonke, Cayla Nielsen and Lily West each finished with three hits, while Rosonke led the way with two RBI on a two-run home run in the first game of the day.
