Kresin's Playbook: Top Numbers of the Week 2-3-25

Second – Creighton men’s basketball senior center Ryan Kalkbrenner is now second in all-time men’s basketball scoring with 2,159 points with his performances this week against Xavier and at Villanova, second only to former Creighton forward Doug McDermott (2010-14) with 3,150 points. Kalkbrenner’s career has been one of consistency, especially over his last four seasons, where he put up an ever-increasing point per game average, increasing from 5.9 as a reserve in his freshman season in 2020-21 to 18.5 this season as a fifth-year season. To accomplish this feat, Kalkbrenner had to pass (just this year) Creighton greats like Kyle Korver (1999-2003), Bob Portman (1966-69), Chad Gallagher (1987-1991), Bob Harstad (1987-91) and Rodney Buford (1995-1999), the last two of which join Kalkbrenner and McDermott as the only four men to score 2,000 in a Creighton men’s uniform.
