OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton center Ryan Kalkbrenner has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week after posting double-doubles in wins over Providence and No. 14 Connecticut.
Kalkbrenner averaged 18.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 3.0 assists per game in a pair of victories last week. The Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year shot 56.5 percent from the field (13-23) and made 8-of-10 free throws (80 percent).
Kalkbrenner opened the week with 20 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots in an 84-64 win vs. Providence on Tuesday. He followed that with 16 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of swats in a win at #14 UConn.
