Backed by a 28-point performance from senior center Ryan Kalkbrenner and stifling defense, the No. 19 Bluejays got back on track with a 78-71 victory over Xavier.
After a midweek game against the Providence Friars that saw lackluster statistical contributions from the seven-foot center, Kalkbrenner made a comeback against the Musketeers, leading the Bluejays to snap their two-game losing streak on Feb. 10.
The first minutes of the game presented challenges for the visiting Bluejays. From the opening possession, a turnover by Creighton turned into a breakaway dunk for the Musketeers.
Holding on to the momentum created by the early turnover and dunk, the Musketeers reached an 11-4 lead over the Bluejays just four minutes into the matchup.
