Top-seeded Creighton’s volleyball team (29-2) clinched its fifth consecutive Big EastChampionship title with a straight-set victory over second-seeded Marquette (23-8) at D.J. Sokol Arena. The Bluejays’ 25-14, 25-16, 25-19 win extended their win streak and gave them the automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament.
The victory reinforced Creighton’s dominance in the conference and marked head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth’s record-breaking 10th Big East tournament title, surpassing former Notre Dame coach Debbie Brown’s nine wins prior to the conference realignment.
“We thought our first contacts were the difference in the match today,” said Booth in her post-match press conference.
