OMAHA, Neb. -- Sam Hauser hit a game-tying three-pointer at the end of regulation and Markus Howard scored a BIG EAST record 53 points to help No. 21 Marquette post a 106-104 overtime victory at Creighton on Wednesday night before 17,085 fans in Omaha.
The Golden Eagles trailed 85-80 with eight seconds left, but got a putback from Joseph Chartouny with 0.8 left and after a Bluejay turnover tied the game on Hauser's desperation heave from the left wing. Howard did the rest, scoring Marquette's (13-3, 2-1 BIG EAST) first 11 points in overtime en route to breaking his own league record for points in a game.
