OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton center Fredrick King has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after posting a pair of double-doubles last week.
King averaged 16.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots in two games last week while shooting 84.2 percent (16-19) from the field.
The Mangrove Cay, Andros, Bahamas, product had career-highs with 16 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots in Monday's game vs. a 10-1 Arizona State team, making 8-of-11 field goal attempts in his second career start. He's just the seventh freshman nationally with a 16/11/5 line and no turnovers since 2010.
