MILWAUKEE, Wis. – All leveled at 3-3, sophomore Annika Elvestrom picked up a 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) victory to lift the Creighton women's tennis team to a 4-3 win over Marquette on Friday afternoon in Milwaukee, Wis.
With the win the Bluejays improved to 9-5 on the season and 2-1 in BIG EAST play, while the Golden Eagles fell to 4-14 overall and 0-2 in league action.
Marquette took an early 1-0 lead, claiming the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions. Senior Malvika Shukla and junior Valerie Negin teamed up for their sixth straight doubles win at the top positions, capturing a 6-4 victory over Andie Weise and Lara Kaiser.
