OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton sophomore Eleanor Hudepohl has been named BIG EAST Women's Golfer of the Week after winning the Big O Classic on Tuesday.
Playing as an individual, Hudepohl (70-74-75=219) brought home medalist honors with a two-shot victory over St. Thomas junior Courtney Wedin (71-79-71=221). In Tuesday's final round, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native was part of the first group to tee off the back nine and promptly birdied No. 11, 12, 16, 18 and 2 to build a lead as large as eight strokes at one point.
The win was Hudepohl's first at the collegiate level and the first by a Bluejay in an event with 55 or more competitors since Leigh Sutton topped 110 competitors at the 8th Annual Springlake Classic in March of 2005.
