Michigan took advantage of a three-run third inning to get the early lead and then held on for a 5-3 victory over Texas Tech in the opening game of the 2019 College World Series on Saturday.
The Wolverines started off early with a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and then took advantage of a Jimmy Kerr triple to extend their lead in the third. After Texas Tech homered in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 4-2 and then 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, Michigan got an insurance run in the seventh and the bullpen closed the door to seal the victory.
