OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton softball team defeated Nebraska-Omaha, 5-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Westside Field at Westbrook.
The Bluejays improved to 15-18, while the Mavericks fell to 4-36.
Creighton jumped out to an early one-run advantage after a half inning of play. Ashley Cantu led off the inning with a bunt single before scoring on a RBI ground out by Mileah McKelvy.
The Mavericks took the lead because of an error in the bottom of the second. With the bases loaded, UNO laid down a bunt in front of home plate before the ball ended up at the backstop because of an errant throw, allowing a pair of runners to score on the play.
