Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Baseball used long balls from senior and sophomore to dig out of a slow start as the Bluejays swept their two-game midweek series from UMass Lowell with a 13-8 win on Wednesday, March 6.
The victory moved Creighton to 9-1 on the season, while the River Hawks fell to 3-9.
Trailing 2-0 after the first, Clifford knotted the game at 2-2 with his third home run of the season, blasting a 2-1 pitch over the left field wall. The Bluejays, however, trailed 5-2 as the game moved to the second. The offense gave a decisive response once more as and singled, then walked and lifted a deep sac fly to left to move each runner 90 feet.
