An unconventional goal proved to be the game winner as junior Ryusei Shimonishi headed in his first goal of the season in the 20th minute (19:20). Shimonishi's volley was blocked by Grand Canyon goalkeeper Leon Schmidt, but he was two feet inside the goal box.
