Omaha, Neb. -- For Bluejay baseball, it is good to be home! The Creighton baseball team opened its home schedule with a 6-1 victory over Portland on Saturday, March 7th.
The win lifted Creighton to 5-6 on the season, while Portland dropped its third straight game during its Nebraska trip to fall to 11-4.
The Pilots scratched the scoreboard first with a solo home run off the bat of Tracye Tammaro over the right field wall. The Bluejay deficit was short lived as the Bluejays pulled even in the second. Senior Ryan Mantle opened the second with a double to left, junior Garrett Gilbert sent him to third with a sacrifice.
