"As of yesterday, based upon the NCAA's directive to cancel all of spring and winter championships, the BIG EAST leadership and our member institutions unanimously decided to cancel all BIG EAST spring and winter sport competitions and championships. This means that all Creighton University athletic department activities around practices, competitions, organized training sessions and travel associated with our programs have been canceled for the foreseeable future, effective immediately, in response to COVID-19. We are taking this action to protect the safety of our students who are athletes, coaches, staff and others who are essential to these activities. As we take steps to confront the spread of this virus, I am grateful for the cooperation and support of the entire Creighton community.
