Troy’s offense raced out to an early lead and never looked book, winning back the Belt from the Jaguars 38-17. Troy capitalized on big plays, while South Alabama played it slow and steady.
The Trojans opened the scoring with a quick two-minute touchdown drive, set up by a Sawyer Smith to Damion Willis bomb to get in USA territory. A Smith toss to Deondre Douglas opened the scoring at 6-0 after a failed two-point conversion.
A quick 3-and-out from the Jaguars was followed by a more methodical 11 play drive to set up a field goal, and Troy took a 9-0 lead before the Jaguars responded with a touchdown drive of their own.
