It had been a turbulent season for the team from Statesboro, but Georgia Southern played its most complete game of the year and ran through Louisiana Tech by a 38-3 margin in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
The return of previously injured starting quarterback Shai Werts was huge for the Eagles, as the senior signal-caller rushed for 71 yards and 3 touchdowns, while adding 126 passing yards and a score through the air.
The entire offense ran like a well-oiled unit, as GS ran for 322 yards and four touchdowns as a team, paced by leading rusher Gerald Green, who ran for 108 and a TD of his own.
