After the graduation of Alex McGough in 2017, Butch Davis turned to the transfer portal in order to find his next starting quarterback.
That search yielded excellent results in the form of James Morgan. Now, Davis has again turned to the portal for depth in the Panthers’ quarterback room.
Former Maryland starting signal-caller Max Bortenschlager has enrolled at FIU as a grad transfer. He’ll be immediately eligible and is expected to compete for the starting job with Stone Norton, Kaylan Wiggins and Caleb Lynum.
The former three-star recruit signed with the Terrapins as part of the 2016 recruiting class, choosing Maryland over offers from Ball State and Buffalo.
