It’s been a season of ups and downs for Argentine attacker Lucas Zelarayan. After becoming, the Columbus Crew’s record signing in the offseason, Zelarayan has multiple streaks of showing off his brilliance for the Black & Gold followed by stretches of injuries and missing time. Crew fans haven’t been able to see the playmaker on a consistent basis throughout the year.
Zelarayan started the first four games of the regular season for Columbus, contributing one goal and two assists in the process. But at the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando, Zelarayan picked up a knock on his ankle that he initially played through before coming off the bench in the third group game.
