The $500,000 that Crew SC is in line to receive in the new state capital budget would be spent on a new, artificial-turf field at the team’s EAS Training Center in Obetz.
“The (budget) bill has not passed, and that’s not unimportant,” Crew SC president of business operations Andy Loughnane said. “But we’re grateful that Gov. Kasich and the Central Ohio legislative delegation and its leadership have recognized Crew SC as a priority and we’re pleased to be under consideration for funding.”
The Crew had originally sought $1.56 million in state money for improvements to Mapfre Stadium but instead targeted a third field for its Obetz facility.
