The shift to club from country is not always easy to make for soccer players who return to their MLS teams after international duty, as five members of Crew SC did this week.
Jet lag, fatigue and injuries are often in play. But when they subside, there is a payoff.
“You want to come back and bring that same level back here and keep the standard high,” said Crew SC midfielder Ethan Finlay, who spent 10 days with the U.S. national team in Miami, Guatemala City and Columbus.

“I think the fact that we have so many guys getting international experience is helpful,” Finlay said after training Thursday.
