Playmaking midfielder Federico Higuain underwent surgery to repair a hernia today and will be sidelined for approximately five to seven weeks, Crew SC announced this afternoon.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Richard Cattey at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee, the team said.

Higuain, 31, has three goals and three assists in 13 games this season.
