Columbus Crew SC legendary head coach Sigi Schmid will have his name on Major League Soccer’s Coach of the Year Award. The league’s commissioner Don Garber announced the honor on Friday, at the beginning of the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, in Chicago.
This honor was bestowed about Schmid after he passed away on December 25 at the age of 65 in Los Angeles.
“Sigi was an important part of our league from the very early years in our history, and he had a significant impact on everyone he touched throughout his life and coaching career,” Garber said in a statement.
