The reigning MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew returned home for its first home competition in the historic Crew Stadium since the 2020 MLS Cup Final, securing a 1-0 victory against Nicaragua’s Real Esteli in the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League. Following a dominant 4-0 victory in Leg 1, the Crew opted to allow most of the starting lineup to rest their legs for Sunday’s MLS season opener against the 2020 Supporters’ Shield winning Philadelphia Union, and test the depth of its’ impressive roster in Leg 2.
