The story of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft every year is the players that get to live out their dream and hear their name called, turning them from collegiate players into professionals. But the 2019 SuperDraft had another major storyline: Columbus Crew SC was making picks.
Just a few months ago, it was in doubt whether Columbus would have a team going forward. Owner Anthony Precourt announced in October of 2017 that he was considering moving the team to Austin, Texas. For a year, Crew fans and the city of Columbus fought with the league to keep the team in town, going as far as beginning a lawsuit.
