The Crew SC fell into last place in the MLS standings on Wednesday night.
But when the club actually bottoms out is anyone’s guess after it squandered another second-half lead and settled for a 1-1 draw against D.C. United on Saturday night before a sellout crowd at Mapfre Stadium.
The Crew (3-7-9) saw its season-long winless streak reach seven games as Fabian Espindola leveled the score in the 89th minute. It matches the team’s longest such skid since 2014 and puts its postseason hopes in greater jeopardy.
This one was not without controversy. After Ola Kamara converted a Harrison Afful cross in the 63rd minute, the Crew was assessed a red card in the 77th minute.
