Last Wednesday, Mayor Andy Ginther and Columbus Partnership President Alex Fischer met with Anthony Precourt and MLS Commissioner Don Garber. The talks didn’t go well with both sides appearing far apart on keeping the Crew in Columbus. City leaders weren’t given a list of requirements and MLS expected a proposal. On Monday, the CEO of the Columbus Foundation, Doug Kridler, developed the outline of a proposal for a new downtown stadium for the Crew.
The proposal, as outlined by Kridler, is pitched as a starting point. It would push for a new soccer stadium to be built downtown at the Abbott Labs site between 5th and 6th streets, just south of Interstate 670.
