After having his option declined earlier this month, Brad Stuver wasn’t out of a job long as Columbus Crew SC traded the veteran goalkeeper to New York City FC ahead of the re-entry draft.
NYCFC apparently wanted to ensure they grabbed Stuver before he was made available for other teams to select and sent a fourth-round pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft. With current starter Sean Johnson returning, Stuver may be in line for another backup spot in New York.
Crew SC made a similar trade with the LA Galaxy yesterday to acquire goalkeeper Jon Kempin.
