Kent Wilson of The Athletic: The Calgary Flames still need to re-sign restricted free agents Matthew Tkachuk and Andrew Mangiapane. They’ll likely need to clear out $5 million in salary-cap space to do so.
Moving defenseman Travis Hamonic seems unlikely. Defenseman T.J. Brodie is one option that could be moved, with forward Michael Frolik being another.
Frolik has one year left on his deal with a cap hit of $4.3 million but a salary of $3 million. The free agent market is a little thin, so Frolik could be an option for a team looking for a top-six/nine forward.
