The Columbus Blue Jackets turned a “case of the Mondays” into a step in the right direction with a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
Although, it was quite literally a fight to the finish.
1st Period : Pain
Things started out a little dicey for the Jackets as Joonas Korpisalo had to pounce on a puck in the crease 13 seconds into the game. Then, the Jackets spent much of the first two minutes hemmed into their defensive zone.
In the first seven minutes of the game, both Eric Robinson and Boone Jenner lifted shots just a bit high causing them not to go into the net.
