COLUMBUS, OHIO --- Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman David Savard is among the first 19 players selected to represent Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Championships to be held from May 1-17 in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic, Hockey Canada announced today.
Savard, 24, led all Blue Jackets defensemen in goals and ranked second in points, setting career highs with 11-25-36 with 71 penalty minutes and an “even” plus/minus rating in 82 games during the 2014-15 season. His 11 goals are tied with Jamie Heward (2000-01) for the second-most in club history by a defenseman, trailing Bryan Berard’s 12 in 2005-06, and his 36 points rank fourth in Blue Jackets history.
