Entering the 2014-2015 season, most observers characterized the defensive end of the ice as the area of the Blue Jackets' greatest strength, with the question marks coming on the scoring front. That proved not to be the case, as a bizarre combination of injuries, off-ice intrigue and simple substandard performance made the blue line more enigma than savior.
