COLUMBUS, OHIO – In keeping with its mission to support the education of local youth and advance the development of youth and amateur hockey, the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation announced during Saturday’s game that Akeem Adesiji of Columbus was awarded this year’s $10,000 High School Hockey Scholarship. Adesiji, who will graduate from Whetstone High School in June, plans to attend The Ohio State University with an anticipated major in environmental science.
Adesiji began playing street hockey at age 10 and then graduated to ice hockey playing for the Columbus Ice Hockey Club (CIHC), a local nonprofit organization affiliated with the National Hockey League’s Hockey Is for Everyone™ program.
